BAFLF & JKSS observed International Workers’ Solidarity Day.
Bangladesh Agricultural Farm Labour Federation (BAFLF) and National Women Farmers-Workers Association (JKSS) have observed today historic May Day, also known as International Workers’ Solidarity Day to commemorate the sacrifices made to win their rights. 

BAFLF & JKSS have organized various programmes including colorful processions, rallies, discussion meeting. The agricultural workers of different trade union affiliated with BAFLF took part in these programmes.

Abdul Mazid, General Secretary of BAFLF said before inaugurating the rally, ‘we are struggling to ensure our rights. Though agricultural workers and peasants including rural workers contribute a lot in our economy, they are deprived of facilities, just wage, real price of their crops’. He urged the workers to forge workers greater unity and to join the fight for establishing their demands.

Rima Akter, General Secretary of JKSS, Golam Sorowor and Mamun Hossain of BAFLF and others farm workers leaders delivered their speech demanding permanent employment for irregular workers in BADC as well as improved retirement benefit, paid weekly holidays and maternity leave.   

A colourful rally was brought out from in front of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute around 9 am and ended at district commissioner office, Gazipur.
